The Temple Gardens Centre and the Saskatchewan Senior Women’s Hockey League (SSWHL) are excited to announce the Saskatchewan Senior Women’s Hockey Showcase, presented by Canadian Tire Moose Jaw, coming to Temple Gardens Centre, Saturday, January 10, 2026, featuring top players from around the province.

The event will bring together standout talent from the SSWHL’s inaugural season for an evening of high-level hockey and community support. Doors open at 6:00 PM with the game scheduled to start at 7:00 PM. Admission will be by donation; all proceeds collected at the gate will be donated to support future female hockey development in Moose Jaw.

“The SSWHL’s inaugural season has shown how much passion there is for senior women’s hockey in Saskatchewan,” said Jenna Merk, co-founder of the SSWHL. “The Showcase in Moose Jaw highlights our players and gives back to grassroots female hockey — exactly the kind of event we want to see more of across the province.”

“I’m really looking forward to the SSWHL’s first All-Star Game,” added SSWHL Co-Founder Megan LeBlanc. “It’s a big milestone for the league, and I’m proud to see it happening. The league has already seen incredible success, and it’s clear how many women were eager for a real chance to compete at a high level again. It will be awesome to showcase what the SSWHL is all about on January 10th.”

The Saskatchewan Senior Women’s Hockey League launched its inaugural season in fall 2025, quickly growing into a province-wide competition created to expand playing opportunities for women across Saskatchewan. The league features teams from both the north and south of the province and has drawn strong community interest as it completes its first season. Jenna Merk — one of the league’s leaders and co-founders — has been a visible advocate for building senior women’s hockey opportunities in Saskatchewan.

“Local businesses thrive when our community comes together — supporting women’s hockey at this showcase helps build stronger teams, healthier kids, and a more inclusive sport for all,” said local Canadian Tire Owner Audrey Leckie. “Canadian Tire Moose Jaw is honoured to stand behind events like these that grow the game here in our city and across the Province.”

“We’re excited to welcome the SSWHL Showcase to Moose Jaw,” said Shaunna Fritzler, General Manager of the Temple Gardens Centre. “This event is a perfect fit for our community and our facility — it celebrates the growth of the women’s game and creates a visible pathway for young players who dream of competitive hockey right here in Saskatchewan.”

Supporting grassroots hockey

All donation proceeds at the door will go directly to the Moose Jaw Minor Hockey — Mavericks program to help with registration supports, equipment grants, and opportunities that keep girls and young women playing and developing in the sport. Community support from nights like this helps lower barriers to participation and strengthens female hockey across all ages in the Moose Jaw area.
